These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use ShubhNaam. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time, and continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

ShubhNaam is a free reference tool that helps parents and families discover Hindu/Vedic baby names. The Service includes:

• A searchable, filterable database of authentic Hindu names with meanings in English, Hindi, and Bengali.
• Name browsing by Rashi (zodiac), Nakshatra (birth star), deity, gender, style, and starting letter.
• AI-powered name suggestions generated via the Anthropic API.
• A printable Namkaran (naming ceremony) certificate.
• A personal saved-names shortlist stored in your browser.

The Service is provided for informational and cultural reference purposes only.

You agree to use ShubhNaam only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others. You must not:

• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service, including the password-protected admin area.
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to extract content from the Service in bulk without prior written permission.
• Reproduce, republish, or redistribute the name database or any substantial portion of it for commercial purposes without permission.
• Transmit any harmful, offensive, or disruptive content through any contact or feedback forms.
• Interfere with the security, integrity, or performance of the Service.

The ShubhNaam name, logo, website design, and original content (including curated name entries, meanings, and descriptions) are the intellectual property of ShubhNaam and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark law.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes. This licence does not include the right to copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any content without express written permission.

Cultural note: The names themselves, their Sanskrit/Hindi/Bengali meanings, and their association with Rashis and Nakshatras are part of the public domain of Hindu cultural heritage. Our original contribution is in the curation, translation, organisation, and presentation of this information.

The AI Name Suggestions feature uses the Anthropic Claude API to generate name ideas based on your filter preferences. Please be aware:

• AI-generated suggestions are illustrative and may not always be authentic Sanskrit or Vedic names.
• ShubhNaam does not guarantee the accuracy, appropriateness, or cultural authenticity of AI-generated suggestions.
• AI suggestions are ephemeral — they are not saved to our database and may vary between sessions.
• You should independently verify the meaning, origin, and cultural significance of any name before using it for a formal naming ceremony.

The printable Namkaran certificate provided by ShubhNaam is a decorative keepsake intended for personal, celebratory use only. It has no legal, official, or governmental standing. It does not constitute a birth registration document or any form of legal identity record. For official name registration, please follow the statutory process applicable in your country or state.

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

• Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
• Guarantees that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or harmful components.
• Guarantees as to the accuracy, completeness, or cultural authenticity of any name, meaning, or astrological information.

Naming a child is a deeply personal and culturally significant act. We strongly encourage you to consult with a qualified Jyotishi (Vedic astrologer), family elders, or a priest for guidance on the formal Namkaran ceremony.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ShubhNaam and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or any errors or omissions in the name database.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (which, for the free Service, is zero).

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. These links are provided for convenience only. ShubhNaam does not endorse, control, or accept responsibility for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party site. Accessing third-party links is at your own risk.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India.
