Shubhnaam collects only the minimum information needed to provide our service:

• Usage data — pages visited, filters applied, names searched, and general device/browser information collected anonymously via analytics (Google Analytics 4, if enabled).
• Locally saved names — your personal shortlist ("Saved Names") is stored entirely in your browser's localStorage and never transmitted to our servers.
• Language preference — your chosen display language (English, Hindi, or Bengali) is stored in localStorage for convenience across sessions.
• Contact data — if you use a contact or booking form, we collect the name, email address, and message you provide solely to respond to your enquiry.

We do not collect passwords, payment information, or any government-issued identification.

We use the information collected to:

• Operate and improve the Shubhnaam website and name database.
• Analyse aggregate, anonymised usage patterns to understand which features are most helpful.
• Respond to enquiries or support requests you send us directly.
• Send transactional emails (e.g., booking confirmations) when you opt into premium services.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes.

Shubhnaam uses:

• Strictly necessary cookies — a session cookie (`shubhnaam-admin`) used only for the password-protected admin area. This is not set for regular visitors.
• localStorage — to remember your saved names list and language preference. No personal data is included; you can clear this at any time via your browser settings.
• Analytics cookies — if Google Analytics is enabled, GA4 sets first-party cookies (`_ga`, `_ga_*`) to distinguish sessions. These are anonymised and contain no personally identifiable information. You can opt out via your browser's cookie settings or a browser extension such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.

No third-party advertising cookies are placed by Shubhnaam.

We may use the following third-party services:

• Google Analytics 4 — anonymous traffic analytics. Data is processed under Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com).
• Anthropic API — when you use the AI Name Suggestions feature, your search parameters (gender, Rashi, style preferences) are sent to Anthropic's API to generate name suggestions. No personal identifiers are included in these requests. Anthropic's usage policies apply.
• Vercel — our hosting provider. Vercel may log IP addresses for security and performance purposes under their Privacy Policy (vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy).

We choose service providers who meet appropriate data-protection standards.

• Analytics data is retained for 14 months (Google Analytics default) and then automatically deleted.
• Enquiry emails and booking requests are retained for up to 12 months after resolution, then deleted.
• localStorage data persists in your browser until you clear it; we have no server-side copy.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

Shubhnaam is a reference tool used by parents and family members choosing names for newborns. The website itself is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of Shubhnaam after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
